We use this to reply to you and arrange what you have asked about. Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, or our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries.
Bookings and gift vouchers. Experiences and gift vouchers are booked through Beyonk, our booking provider. Beyonk collects the details needed to complete your booking, such as your name, email address, phone number and booking details, and shares them with us so we can deliver your experience. Our lawful basis is performing our contract with you.
Online orders. When you place an order through our website checkout, we collect your name, billing address, email address, phone number and order details. Payments are processed by PayPal; we do not see or store your full card or bank details. Our lawful bases are performing our contract with you and complying with our legal obligations to keep financial records.
Donations. Donations are made through PayPal. PayPal shares with us the details needed to record your donation, such as your name, email address and the amount given. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in managing and acknowledging donations.
Rescue and lost bird reports. If you contact us about an injured, stranded or lost bird, we may record your name, contact details and where the bird was found, so we can respond and follow up. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in the welfare of the birds we rescue.
Website use. When you visit the site, our web server automatically records technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. We use this to keep the website secure and working properly. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running a safe and reliable website.
We do not sell your personal information.
Who we share it with
We only share your information with organisations that help us provide our services, and only as much as they need:
- Beyonk – our online booking and gift voucher platform.
- PayPal – processes payments and donations. PayPal is responsible for the payment information you give it, under its own privacy policy.
- Our website hosting provider – stores the website and the information submitted through it.
- Google Fonts – the fonts on this website are loaded from Google, which receives your IP address when the page loads.
We may also share information where the law requires it, for example with HMRC or the police.
Some of these providers may process information outside the UK. Where they do, they must protect it with safeguards recognised under UK data protection law.

- Payment cookies set by PayPal when you pay or donate.
- Booking cookies that may be set by Beyonk’s booking widget so your booking can be completed.
- Login cookies, used only by website administrators.
We do not currently use analytics or advertising cookies. If we start to, we will ask for your consent first. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the basket, checkout or booking process may then not work.

How long we keep your information
- Orders and payment records are kept for six years, as required by UK tax law.
- Enquiries and rescue reports are kept only for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry or the bird concerned.
- Booking details held by Beyonk are kept in line with Beyonk’s own privacy policy.
Keeping your information safe
This website uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and access to personal information is limited to the people who need it to run the sanctuary. We keep the website and its software up to date to protect against security risks.
Children
This website is not aimed at children. Bookings for children should be made by a parent or guardian, who provides the details on the child’s behalf.
